Natural Wood

Nothing looks or feels quite like real wood. If you love natural grain and don’t mind some upkeep, we build wood decks that are framed and finished to handle Utah’s sun, snow and freeze-thaw cycles.

Cedar

Warm color, a natural resistance to rot and insects, and a pleasant scent. Cedar is also a favorite for pergolas, trellises and timber accents.

Hardwoods like Ipe

Very dense, hard and long-lasting, with a rich color that suits high-end homes and cabins. Hardwoods also make striking patterns and inlays.

Patterns & inlays

Parquet, herringbone and picture-frame patterns show off real wood grain.

Pressure-treated

The most budget-friendly choice. It’s strong and widely available, and it takes stain well. Plan on regular cleaning and refinishing to keep it from graying and checking.

Finishing with Messmer’s UV Plus

We finish wood decks with Messmer’s UV Plus to protect against Utah’s high-altitude sun. Every wood deck needs to be cleaned and refinished from time to time, more often on south- and west-facing decks.

Wood or composite?

Want the look of wood without the upkeep? Many TimberTech composite lines have realistic wood grain and never need staining. See the Composite Decking page.
